WHAT IS HE?
In the Philippines, the HE (Home Economics) strand is one of the specialized tracks offered in Senior High School (SHS) by the Department of Education (DepEd). This track focuses on practical skills and knowledge related to home management, culinary arts, hospitality management, tourism, and other aspects of family and consumer sciences.
Students who choose the HE strand typically study subjects such as:

1. **Culinary Arts:** This subject covers cooking techniques, food preparation, nutrition, food safety, and kitchen management.

2. **Bread and Pastry Production:** Students learn how to bake various types of bread, pastries, and desserts, as well as the fundamentals of bakery management.

3. **Tourism:** This subject explores the principles and practices of tourism, including travel operations, tour guiding, hospitality management, and cultural heritage.

4. **Housekeeping:** Students learn about sanitation, cleanliness, and organization in residential and commercial settings, as well as principles of interior design and home decoration.
5. **Entrepreneurship:** This subject covers the basics of business management, marketing, financial management, and entrepreneurship, with a focus on starting and running small-scale enterprises in the food and hospitality industry.

Overall, the HE strand in DepEd aims to equip students with practical skills and knowledge that are relevant to various aspects of home management, culinary arts, hospitality, and tourism industries. It provides opportunities for students to pursue further education or enter the workforce in related fields after graduation.
