WHAT IS ICT?

Students in the Philippines can select among specialized tracks or strands in the Senior High School (SHS) curriculum according to their interests and professional aspirations. The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) strand is one of these tracks.

The goal of the ICT strand is to provide students with specific knowledge and abilities in a range of information technology-related areas, enabling them to pursue professions in digital media production, network administration, software development, and web development.

The ICT strand is generally chosen by students who want to study web development, database management, multimedia arts, programming, and network administration. Students' technical ability, critical thinking skills, and creativity in applying technology to address real-world problems are all intended to be developed through this curriculum.

Overall, the ICT strand offers students a pathway to develop expertise in the rapidly evolving field of information and communications technology, equipping them for further education or entry into the workforce in related industries.
